Grateful

I remember the first day,

When you came to my house.

A special day, unlike any other. 

Starting a new chapter, my life anew.

You came, timid and afraid,

Crying through the night, I couldn’t bear.

Despite my illness, I chose to be with you.

You follow me around,

Sad eyes when I head to work each day,

A happy welcome when I return.

Sleep by my side every night.

I love to talk to you,

Even if my words you can't understand.

When I'm down, your gentle massage,

Brings me comfort, meaning so much.

I know it is not always happy, 

At times, you are a bit annoying

But getting mad? I can't.

Your cuteness is beyond compare.

Writing this as you peacefully sleep.

Grateful for you, my heart has said.
